Hardscaping is the part of the landscape you walk on and lean against, so it has to be built right. We install paver patios, front walkways, steps and retaining walls that tie into your plantings and lawn instead of looking dropped in.
New Jersey freeze-thaw cycles and heavy soils are hard on anything built on a thin base. We excavate properly, compact the stone base in layers, plan for drainage and lock the edges, so the surface stays flat and the wall stays straight.
What Is Included
Paver patios
Outdoor living space sized and shaped around how you will use it.
Walkways & steps
Safe, good-looking paths and steps from driveway to door and around the house.
Retaining walls
Block or natural stone walls that hold back slopes, stop erosion and create level, usable ground.
Paver driveways & borders
Full paver driveways, or borders and aprons that dress up existing asphalt.
What is under the pavers matters most
Most failed patios and leaning walls in this area come down to the same shortcuts: a shallow base, poor compaction and no plan for water. We dig to the proper depth, install and compact crushed stone in lifts, and build drainage behind every retaining wall.
Before & After: Garden Beds & Borders

New river rock bed with a paver border
Built new: a river rock bed framed with a paver border, as a clean base for raised garden planters.
How It Works
- Consultation. We walk the property with you and look at what the job involves and what you want the finished result to be.
- Plan & Estimate. You get a clear written scope and price. No surprises and no pressure.
- The Work. Our crew shows up on the day we said, does the job properly and keeps the site clean.
- Walkthrough. We go over the finished work together and answer any questions about looking after it.
What Affects the Cost
Every property is different, so we price each job after seeing it. These are the main factors:
- Square footage or wall length. The overall size of the project.
- Material choice. Paver style, natural stone or wall block.
- Excavation and base. Soil conditions and how much material has to move.
- Site access and slope. Tight or steep sites take more time.
Patios, Walkways & Retaining Walls: Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a paver patio last?
Built on a proper base, a paver patio lasts for decades. Individual pavers can be lifted and reset if anything ever settles, which is a big advantage over poured concrete.
Do I need a retaining wall or just regrading?
Gentle slopes can often be handled with grading and planting. Steeper grade changes, erosion, or the need for flat usable space usually call for a wall. We will tell you which applies.
Do you handle the landscaping around it?
Yes. Planting, lawn repair and mulch around the new hardscape are part of what we do, so the project is finished, not just built.
Do retaining walls need permits?
In New Jersey a construction permit is required for any retaining wall four feet or taller, measured from the bottom of the footing, and tiered walls on the same slope are added together. Shorter walls can still need a zoning permit depending on the town. We check what applies to your property before we quote.
